Joy Ryan, NHA
Joy is a Warwick resident and a University of Rhode Island and New England Tech graduate. Joy just celebrated her 30th anniversary as a Scalabrini employee. Joy started as a consultant to clean up some accounting issues in 1988; rehired as a part time receivables/payables clerk and 3rd party biller in 1992; Full time 3rd party biller and Administrator Advisor in 2001; Assistant Administrator in 2003. She became Scalabrini Villa’s Administrator in June 2007. Joy has worked in a Nursing Home her entire career of over 40 years. In her spare time, she loves to travel, read and play video games.
Carolyn Montecalvo, NHA, BS,BA
Carolyn is originally from Cranston but now lives in Coventry, RI. She graduated Bryant University with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Her professional goals are to perform at her best level and contribute to the Villa’s great reputation. She is inspired by happy people with a good attitude in life. She is most proficient in listening to honest feedback. She has been part of our Villa family for the past 22 years. Carolyn has two married sons: David & Adriana of West Kingstown, RI and Stephen & Michelle of Orlando, FL. She has two grandchildren Maia and Christopher.
Director of Nursing
Julie Bamisile, RN, BSN, DNS
Julie has been a part of our Scalabrini team for the past 10 years as the Director of Nursing. She graduated from Rhode Island College with a Bachelor’s Degree with the inspiration to care for people. She has set high professional goals for her career here at the Villa. She aims to be a better advocate for families, residents and staff. Her motivational and leadership skills are a great asset to the Villa.
Assistant Director of Nursing
Christine Cote, RN, WCC, ADNS
Christine lives in Warwick, RI. She attended CCRI Newport Campus where she graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing. Christine stated as a charge nurse and was promoted as the Unit Manager for the Country Unit. After 5 years as Unit Manager, Christine promised promoted as Assistant Director of Nursing. Christine strives to continually learn new information that effects healthcare and become more proficient with it and then educate others. On her spare time, she enjoys reading and spending time with family and friends. She lives with her husband Ronald, they have four children, Ryan, Peter, Jenna and Linzy.
Country Unit Manager
Sandra Santos, RN
Sandra is a current resident of Coventry, RI. She Graduated CCRI in 2010 with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing. She has been with our Villa family for over 15years. She started as a CAN and continued her education to become a nurse. Sandra hopes that with every resident she meets and takes care of that she makes a difference in their lives. On her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends. She married her husband Richard in 2000, they have a son, Matthew. She is an avid New York Yankee and New York Giants fan!
Diane Gladu, LPN CEHRS
Diane grew up in Manville, RI and graduated from the LPN program at CCRI. She is inspired by people who are not afraid to overcome extraordinary challenges, like our residents here at Scalabrini. Diane has been a part of our team since 2007. She started off as a nurse on the Country Unit and is now our Admissions Co-coordinator, she has also received her Electronic Health Records Certification.
Lisa Tharas, PHR
Lisa is originally from Fort Collins, CO and attended Colorado State University. She has been part of our Scalabrini family since 2005. While working as payroll, Lisa obtained her PHR certification and developed the HR Department. Lisa has two beautiful children, Taylor and Reed. During the summer time Lisa loves to spend her time at the beach.
Director of Social Service
Pamela Houston, MA, CRC
Pam is a current resident of East Greenwich. She is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island and Salve Regina University. Pam has been the Director of Social Service for the past 10 years at Scalabrini Villa. Pam brings some great qualities to our team: empathy, maintain a calm manner, team player, self-starter, and organized. Pamela is married to Jonathan who is the director of a criminal justice agency. She has two children, Shannon & Adam and twin granddaughters – Hailey and Isabella.
Jo Ann Mitchell, ADC, CEHRS, CNA
Jo Ann has been the Activities Director for the past 25 years. She is one of the few staff member from the original building. Originally from Smithfield and a URI graduate, Jo Ann holders a CNA license and Electronic Health Records certification. She plans on receiving her Med Tech Certification to be able to contribute more to the Villa. On her spare time, she enjoys traveling to Grand Manan, Canada where she owns a home.
Food Service Director
Steve has been the Food Service Director at Scalabrini for the past 10 years. He has over 16 years of experience in Long Term Care. His professional goals are to serve our residents to the best of his ability and to satisfy their wants and needs.
Environmental Service Director
Our Chaplain, Fr. PETER P. POLO, c.s. is a member of the Scalabrinian Congregation. He was born in Italy (venetian countryside). He attended elementary, high school and junior college in Italy and then did theological studies in Staten Island, New York. He obtained a MA in romance languages at Queens College (CUNY) and a MA religious studies at Providence College.
Fr. Peter was ordained in 1968 and did ministry on behalf of migrants in parishes and missions in Utica; Staten Island; Manhattan; Brooklyn and Queens, NY; Boston, MA; Providence, RI and Rome, Italy. He currently serves as our Chaplain and spiritual advisor to the Scalabrini-Dukcevich Center located in Silverlake, Providence, RI
Our spiritual team also consists of Sr. Nemy, Sr. Jane, Sr. Marizza, who reside on the property. They are available to our residents daily for spiritual guidance.
